We’d like to introduce you to David Anthony.
David Anthony hails from the global fashion capital of New York City; he compiles his vast knowledge of all things fashion from his diverse skills in image consulting, retail merchandising, buying, sales, personal shopping, closet makeovers, fashion show production and live event coordination. His talents are fortified with a multitude of experiences as an entertainer, master of ceremonies, actor, model and dancer. David is also a father of two beautifully gifted young ladies.
After moving from New York to Atlanta in 2010, David hit the ground running; flying back and forth between cities to personal shop for clients, while pursuing his desire to expand his image consulting into a full-time business. David and his team began working within a circle of Atlanta’s top designers and photographers which led to envisioning and producing two successful charity runway shows titled “The F. A. B. (Fashion Against Bullying) Event.” David Anthony’s work has been featured in numerous publications as he has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most sought after luminaries in the industry.
Ever an avid learner, after completing courses in social media marketing, branding and mastering in 2017; David rebranded his company from Nuvizions International to David Anthony Image Consulting. This expansion offered the ability for his services to reach a broader client base. “I wanted to create a ministry to connect with people and to make a difference in the lives of those I’m called to, by helping them authentically discover their true “STYLE IDENTITY.”
In 2019 David Anthony Image Consulting stepped into the world of costume designing, wardrobe coordination styling and set dressing for independent films and television shows; debuting credit as costume designer with Taylormade Film Company’s television pilot for ”Office Secrets.” A lifelong student of experiences, David gained invaluable insight from his appearances as a stylist for two main characters on the television reboot of “Dynasty.” Simultaneously on the medical television series “The Resident”, this triple threat rose to the challenge of performing as a featured orderly, stand-in and production assistant all on the same show. David Anthony is always working diligently to increase his industry knowledge and skills in order to bring his new and existing “style family” the current pulse of creativity.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth sailing? If not, what were some of the challenges along the way?
Some of the early challenges I faced occurred during the transition of relocating from NYC to Atlanta. I was a new face and name in a new city, I started over by doing a lot of work for free to build brand credibility; sacrificing personal time and finances into growing the business. I also chose to adjust my rates to correspond with the new market I was in, while balancing to maintain the integrity of my overall standards. There were times when I ate sunflower seeds for dinner because I was sowing into the future, realizing the importance of investing for the long run. During that pivotal period I wasn’t able to afford a web designer or PR representation, so I learned how to build my own website and how to become my own advocate in order to promote my brand.
What should we know about David Anthony Image Consulting? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is a one stop shop for a diverse clientele, offering a myriad of services. As an image consultant, I offer my clients the opportunity to discover their true ”STYLE IDENTITY” for their personal or professional brands. “STYLE IDENTITY” is your own individual style, which informs the world of who you are as a brand; it is what sets you apart and makes you uniquely stand out. That is my distinct specialty. Additionally I offer services such as personal shopping, personal makeovers, wardrobe closet makeovers, wardrobe styling and coordination for movies, television, photo shoots and music videos.
What sets me apart is my clients and I connect on a manifestation level.
It is important to have a connection beyond the clothing, meaning I don’t just focus on labels and trends; I pay particular attention to what is specifically for you, which will provide you and your brand with a classic as well as lasting style history.
I strive to go above and beyond for my client’s results, showing up and being present by staying in the moment; which ensures the utmost detail oriented customer service. I am grateful to be able to walk with impactful purpose, utilizing my gifts to encourage others to step outside of preconceived fashion comfort zones. This exchange of trust yields to enhancing and elevating one’s “STYLE IDENTITY” and overall brand. I have been most personally gratified to grant my services to styling cancer survivors.
Who has played a meaningful role during the journey? Who else deserves credit?
GOD gets all the clout. Yet it takes a faith filled village and the power of agreement in order for any company to grow. I have been blessed with an amazing village, I am so thankful. I’ve been given the best and most consistent business and spirited counsel from Melinda Brundidge, owner of Melin Michelle Planning Management & Design Group; who has also entrusted me to style one of her management clients, the inspirational Peggy Clemons. My best friend Janel Scarborough who lives in NYC is always on the phone with sound professional advisement and unconditional spiritual guidance; she has witnessed all the life chapters toward achieving success. Danny Jackson who has worked with me, helping with styling while launching his own brand of accessories “Ascension By Danny J”; which I often accessorize with my styling work. Of course my family is extremely encouraging and supportive, as they help me to stay grounded in reality.
Throughout my journey I’ve been fortunate to create amongst the most talented artists including photographers from Applehead Photography & Design, Black Tie Photography, Blair Devereaux of Pheauxtography, Dorian Owens of Unhindered Creations, Richard Anthony Evans Photography, Richard Dominguez of Richard Images and Weldon Bond Studios. The eclectic designers who have blessed me to be able to pull from their extensive collections to style my clients, such as Alex Holliman of Farrier Bell Couture, Gayla Rogers of Gayla Rogers Collections, Sheraz Pompey of Sheraz Pompey Designs and Vanessa Henderson of Van Miller International. Makeup artist Ayasha Sydelle is a skilled beast as she paints with the makeup brush. It was also a blessing to be given advice by Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds, as well as the opportunity to work on Jeffrey Fashion Cares.
I am honored to represent a diversified clientele that professionally challenge and stretch my imagination as their image consultant, especially actor and model AhKuoi; as well as Taylormade Film Company, who has enlisted my company to provide wardrobe coordination on all of their upcoming film, television and music video productions. Final thanks to Jarvis McColumn who designed and created my outstanding logo and business cards.
Without the collective support, I would be walking this road alone. I am eternally grateful for all I’m graced to do and to whom I am graced to do it with.
